The ERIQA Group

Since its foundation the ERIQA Group aims to provide European regulatory authorities with guidance on how to assess the quality of HRQL studies in clinical trials and on how to evaluate the validity of HRQL claims, to facilitate decision-making in a field that still is intensively subject to discussion. Emanating from this mission, one of the focal points of the ERIQA Group is the contribution to the worldwide recognition of PRO as key relevant outcomes reflecting the patient’s perspective on treatment and disease.

Hence, the ERIQA Group has the great pleasure to announce that the article "Literature review of methods to translate health-related quality of life (HRQL) questionnaires for use in multinational clinical trials" written by Catherine Acquadro, Katrin Conway, Asha Hareendran, and Neil Aaronson has been accepted for publication in the journal Value in Health.

A literature review was conducted to respond to regulatory concerns about the quality of translated patient-reported outcome questionnaires. The main objective was to answer two questions: What do the translation methods have in common and in which way are they different? And is there evidence of the superiority of one method over another?

More about the findings and the conclusions of this research can be found in the paper itself. You are invited to consult the article online on http://www.ispor.org/publications/value/ViHsupplementary.asp or in the journal’s paper version in autumn 2008.
